Future of the Internet – Internet2

Future of Internet Networks & Next Gen Spunk

With this increasing need of internet don’t you think even internet needs an upgrade just like other software we all use? Yes we all know that the congestion in networks is increasing day by day due to the rapid increase in users every day. This congestion normally occurs due to internet’s inability to set priorities. Taking all this in consideration National Science Foundation Network has taken the initiative to come up with the Future of the Internet – Internet2.

Now you guys might be wondering when actually Internet2 is going to be implemented? How will this massive change happen? When will today’s internet change? What would be the impact of this next generation internet technology? Well for updates on further development of future internet i.e. Internet2 stay tuned with dospeedtest.com your most reliable source to check broadband internet speed! Internet2 is nothing but a collaboration among more than 100 U.S. universities to develop advanced networking and latest applications for learning and research.

Internet2 is adding sufficient network infrastructure to support such applications. Also develop new ways to use the Internet and the Internet2 infrastructure for its educational purposes. Although Internet2 is not only envisioned as a future replacement for the Internet, but also its organizers hope to share their developments with other networks, including the Internet. Next Generation Internet Technology will include and further develop the National Science Foundation’s very high-speed Backbone Network Service (vBNS). This high performance networks collaborators plan to use Quality-of-Service (QoS) tools so that participants can reserve and use bandwidth for special events in certain time periods.

Developing structures and accelerating technology improvements, the Internet2 effort, operating in partnership with government and industry, intends to continue U.S. leadership in this key area. It is mainly focused on:

  • New generation of advanced network applications designed for higher education and research on a worldwide scale.
  • New network capabilities such as IPv6, Multicasting and Quality of Service that provide reliable performance required by advanced applications and “ensure global interoperability in the next generation of networking technologies.

The vision and mission of this project is to create and sustain an outstanding network capability for the national research community which would eventually result as a helping hand for the worldwide internet community. Internet2 is being devised with a motto to support and provide high speed platforms for next generation technologies preferred by the smart and intelligent users of internet community. Internet2 would support the cutting edge networking technologies like:

  • ATM Next-Generation Banking Networks
  • Wavelength Division Multiplexing
  • IP over WDM
  • Internet Protocol IPV6

Benefit of Internet2:

Nowadays, advanced applications and next generation services demands are increasing dramatically. Also facing challenges in technical equipments such as difficulties in the common communication protocol IPv4, limited backbones and capacities these limitations are impulses at the same time. Registering and estimating limitations, future bottlenecks and demands, Internet2 interactions among Today’s and Tomorrow’s Internet have to be efficient to be successful.

  1. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100 sure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
